Ski Bindings · Boot Sole Type Compatibility · GripWalk

I see GripWalk on my new ski boots - do I need special bindings for them?

Yes, you do. GripWalk boots have rubberized, rockered soles that make walking around the lodge or parking lot much more comfortable than stiff alpine soles. But that different sole shape won't sit properly in standard alpine bindings, and the boot could release unpredictably or not engage correctly - a serious safety risk.

The good news is that many modern alpine bindings are GripWalk-compatible, meaning they safely accommodate both traditional alpine soles (ISO 5355) and GripWalk. Just look for the GripWalk logo on the binding or check the product specs before buying.

Don't confuse GripWalk with the older WTR (Walk to Ride) standard - they're not the same, and cross-compatibility isn't guaranteed. Always verify your specific boot-and-binding pairing to ensure safe, reliable performance on the slopes.
