Snowboard Bindings · Weight (Pair)

Does binding weight really matter, and how light should I go?

Binding weight matters, but it shouldn't be your top priority. A typical pair weighs between 900 and 1300 grams, which balances durability and performance nicely for most riders. Lighter bindings reduce swing weight for spins and leg fatigue on long days, making them great for park riders and splitboarders who hike a lot. But going ultra-light can mean sacrificing dampening and durability—those grams had to come from somewhere.

Freeriders often prefer slightly heavier bindings because the added mass absorbs chatter at speed and holds up to rougher treatment. The good news is that weight differences of 100-200 grams are barely noticeable while riding, so don't obsess over small numbers.

One catch: always check whether the listed weight includes mounting hardware and discs. Some brands include them, some don't, which makes direct comparisons misleading. Focus on finding the right flex and features for your style first, then consider weight as a tiebreaker.
